Tour information

My family have never done a private tour before. I fear my kids will get bored.

No matter what the age group, the tour, and my demeanor will be tailored to suit you. So if your kids are 4-12, I'll include some Irish stories (ya know, leprechauns and the other fairy folk!)

If you have teens, they'll not only be left with the greatest Irish history knowledge in their school (sounds interesting, contact UCD for high school programs), but will have a lot of fun doing it.

And no matter what their age group, the kids will be entertained, engaged, and challenged - I'm not the typical image of a tour guide, I'm young and enthusiastic, remember ?

Our biggest question is should we do the tour the day we arrive or wait until the next day?

Why not do both! My 'Dublin in 2 Days' tour involves a light, refreshing tour on the arrival day and another, more thorough and in-depth,  tour on the second  day.

Can you tell me more about the 2-day tour? Do the days need to be consecutive and how long is the tour on each day?

'Dublin in 2 days' a tour specifically designed for visitors arriving after transatlantic flights, or any long flights, who have precious little time in Dublin and want to use that time as efficiently as possible. That means THE ARRIVAL DAY SHOULD NOT BE A RIGHT-OFF.

The two tours  comprise:

  • 2-3 hours in duration each

  • A break half-way through (coffee/lunch break)

  • Entry to an attraction during one of the tours. (which will probably be The Book of Kells or The National Museum of History & Archaeology)

  • Your choice of two days, which don't have to be consecutive.

For more info, including the sites visited, please see the full tour description here.

I know you offer more special tours than the typical tourist spots, but can you give an example of some key things/sites you visit?

No. Go away.

Actually, yes. Go away. Go here. There you'll find tour descriptions which all include the sites visited during that specific tour.

Should I bring anything for the tour?

I'd suggest bringing a printed copy of the correspondence, or at least be aware of our most recent correspondence. I will always have a copy of all correspondence with me anyway. Please have a working phone number through which I can contact you, but only in case of emergency or last minute changes.

Booking Enquiries

Is the pricing per person?

Generally the pricing is per tour  but if you select from the drop down menu within each tour  description, you will see the relevant price for the relevance number of people in your group. For some tours this will be more significant, e.g. for the fantastic walking tour of Dublin there are no entry fees so there is only a price difference between small groups and big groups whereas for the nearly all of Dublin in 5 hours  tour  there is an entrance fee and so the price differs per person.

Its probably easiest to pay you in cash, but we do need receipt. Can we pay you in cash?

To book the tour, please click http://www.dublintourguide.ie/#!tours/c1f2i and select The The Fantastic Walking Tour of Dublin

By booking online you not only secure the booking, but you get a receipt as well!

Planning advice

I'm planning to come to Dublin and I want to experience as much as the city has to offer. So far, I've a good idea of the attractions I'd like to visit, but would like to know relevant tips like when's the best time to visit, are there lines, is it worth visiting?

Please check out my advice pages

There, you'll not only find advice on attractions, pros and cons, but also advice on where to eat, suggestions for souvenirs, where to stay and, most importantly, what beer to order!

I know Dublin has so many great pubs, so can I assume I can just wander around and find one of these famous pubs?

In France, 'cheese' means so much than it does to the rest of us. Likewise, in Ireland, 'pub' can mean so many different types of public houses.
